FAQ

What services can Digital Base provide to my band?
Setup and consultation, tracking, editing, mixing, mastering, beat or bed sequencing, CD duplication, photo shoots, graphic design, video shoots, web design, and DVD authoring are just some of the services we offer. Chances are, if you want it, we do it.

What do we need to do to get ready for the studio sessions?
Getting ready for the recording studio is hard, but it's worth it and it shows. You'll need to have all of your songs down perfectly. Being unsure on any part of any song is going to cost you money, so it's best to know your material perfectly. I suggest rehearsing for about a week solid prior to your session, and only the material you'll be recording.

Something that I highly recommend is that your drummer get really tight with a metronome and the tempos for your songs. This is a must in professional modern recording, so if that's what you're going for, knowing how to play to a click track will get you there.

Also, you'll need to have equipment that's in great shape. New guitar strings and drum heads are a huge part of making your recording sound good. Clean your cymbals up, get rid of squeeks, check connections, get hums and buzz in your electronics looked at by a professional. Knowing the tone of your instruments is also a huge plus. If you need assistance or additional time or people to help you with these things, we can provide that, as well as rental equipment if you think yours isn't suitable for recording.

Why shouldn't I get my stuff done in a garage or strip mall studio?
There's nothing wrong with recording this way. However, there are some differences in quality and equipment that simply make Digital Base stand out. We're very fortunate to have access to preamps, software, plugins, microphones, and rooms like you'd find in competitive studios in Los Angeles, Nashville or New York. And, we can offer these assets at a price that's cheaper than all of our competitors in the Lubbock region. We don't compete with strip mall studios or garage studios because we don't offer the same product. If you're looking for something that you can potentially hand a label exec or a disc jockey, come to Digital Base and get it done right. It's your music, you owe yourself the chance to make it perfect.
